OVERVIEW
Honoring The Greatest Generation
is initiated and overseen by a 501(c) 3 not for profit organization: The Executive Leadership Foundation. The objective of this project is to make known the legacy of the Greatest Generation of duty, honor and country by educating and influencing future generations.
Our goal is to honor veterans of World War II with formal recognition, and produce and archive as many on-camera interviews with veterans as possible. Thus we will preserve their history, their heroism, their deeds, and their perspective in their own words.
This generation saved the world from brutal dictators with dreams of world domination. These veterans stood tall when freedom was threatened. Their dedication to duty won the day.
It is time we honor them publicly while some are still with us. Sadly, more and more are leaving us every day. Time is short, our effort must move forward now.
SPECIFICS
Honoring The Greatest Generation project will hold a series of public events around the state of Georgia at which WWII veterans – selected in their own communities – will be
honored in public ceremonies. In addition, they will be presented with appreciation awards from a grateful nation.
These awards include a certificate of appreciation, the first DVD in a series of
documentary videos honoring wartime heroics, featuring on-camera interviews with WWII veterans. Also, they will receive the Ruptured Duck and WWII Victory Medal Ribbon.
The Archive
Production of as many on camera interviews as possible will be made with veterans of WWII, and archived for future use by historians, documentary producers, and educators. These
interviews will be conducted, edited, preserved, and in addition, shared with the Library of Congress veteran’s program. Rekindling Patriotism
Patriotism and regard for such values as honor and duty
during WWII were taken for granted – they were values shared by all. Today, regard for such values is not widely shared.
During WWII, Hollywood and the entire entertainment and communications
industries came together and provided patriotic support for our men and women in combat world wide.
Sadly, that same sort of support is missing in today’s America.
This project is designed to
fill that vacuum by producing a series of inspiring and dramatic videos using the on-camera interviews of WWII veterans. Each will tell their stories of heroism, sacrifice, and noble service as only those who
experienced these events can do.
The videos will be distributed to civic groups, churches, schools, and other organizations and available for sale on the Internet. This will make these inspiring stories
available to as many Americans as possible – letting both young and old hear and understand the experiences of these veterans.
We Seek Sponsorship
Few causes are as noble in intent, vision, and purpose.
We seek the help and support of Georgia corporations, groups, and individuals to underwrite the costs of creating this
program. Our goal is to bring this to life in a manner of integrity that will sustain itself permanently.
Soon these heroes will be gone and only their monuments and the memories of their
families will remain.
Time is short.
Please join us in this mighty effort.
We hope to preserve more – we hope to educate more – we want to honor more.
Through this project,
these heroic deeds will live forever in their own words; preserving their history – influencing our future.

News Articles
Help Us To Remember They braved enemy fighters and flak, stormed the beaches of Anzio, France, and the Pacific, and ended the threat to freedom and liberty posed by the
Axis powers.
Then they returned home, created the baby boom, and were taken for granted as America returned to peace time.
They are the veterans of WWII and until quite recently,
their service, sacrifice and valor have been taken for granted or even forgotten.
Now, that's changing.
A non- profit group based in Georgia: "The Executive
Leadership Foundation" has launched a project to honor what newsman Tom Brokaw calls "The Greatest Generation". The foundation is working to acquire as many on camera interviews of WWII
veterans as possible and archive that living history for historians, documentary producers, and historians of the future.
The interviews accumulated will be also be made
available to the veteran's project of the Library or Congress.
But "Honoring The Greatest Generation" project has other aims as well. As explained by retired Colonel
Nimrod "Mac" McNair, the effort will also have an educational component a plan to re-instill in today's generations a respect and high regard for such
values as duty, honor, and even patriotism...values often seen to be lacking in the nation today.
McNair (who flew P-51s in Europe during WWII) says his group plans to use the interviews as launching
points for the production of documentaries DVDs that will be designed to remind Americans of today of the importance of such patriotic values.
"Hollywood during WWII, gave our nation a flow of
pro American, patriotic, inspiring movies with heroes such as John Wayne. Today, however", notes McNair, "we don't see that sort of support from our entertainment industry. That gap must be filled and
we intend to do just that."
McNair says the DVDs will be distributed through veteran's groups, schools, religious organizations, and sold here on this Website.
Honoring The Greatest Generation project is now embarking on a series of events across the state of Georgia that will honor specific WWII veterans in local ceremonies. Those honored will be presented
with appreciation awards.
